How to Write a Brand Message That Attracts High-Paying Clients

Introduction

Posting daily. Showing up on LinkedIn. Sending emails. Crickets. If you’re doing all the right things and still not landing high-paying clients, the issue isn’t your offer. It’s your message.

Your dream clients aren't ignoring you—they're just confused. And here’s the kicker: confused people don’t click. They don’t buy. And they definitely don’t book.

This post breaks down how to write a brand message that’s clear, compelling, and cash-generating. Whether you're a coach, consultant, or service-based entrepreneur, if your message isn’t magnetic, you're leaving money on the table.

Let’s fix that.

Why Confusing Brand Messaging Costs You Clients

People don’t have time to “figure out” what you do. They're skimming your LinkedIn while waiting on coffee. Or glancing at your website in an Uber.

That’s why your message needs to answer 3 things—in 5 seconds flat:

  • What do you do?
  • Who do you help?
  • Why does it matter?

If they have to guess, they’ll move on. And that opportunity’s gone.

“Your audience isn’t ignoring you. They’re confused. And confused people don’t buy. They sure as hell don’t reach out.”  — Deirdre Martin, Master Your Business Podcast

Do the 5-Second Message Test

Here’s how to test your message:

  • Open your LinkedIn profile or website
  • Show it to someone unfamiliar with your work
  • Ask them: “Can you tell what I do, who I help, and why it matters?”

If they hesitate? Red flag.

Most coaches and consultants fail this test because they use vague, over-intellectualised messaging. Don’t be that brand. Use clear, concise language your ideal clients understand.

You’re Not the Hero of Your Brand Story

You are not the hero of your brand story. Your client is.

Your job? Be their guide. Their Yoda. Their Haymitch.

Stop leading with your method. Start showing them what’s in it for them.

Bad Example:

“I help people through my unique blend of strategy, energetics, and aligned execution.”

Good Example:

“If you’re great at what you do but your content is getting ignored—this is how you finally get noticed.”

Clients don’t care about your framework. They care about their future.

Sell the Promise Not the Process

You’re probably listing:

  • Strategy calls
  • Modules
  • Tools
  • Voxer support

That’s process. And process doesn’t sell. People buy the promise.

Think of it like this:

You don’t care how the plane flies. You just want to know it’ll get you to your holiday.

Same with your clients.

  • They want the result.
  • They want the after.
  • They want the win.

So don’t say:

“Six sessions to clarify your messaging.”

Say:

“Walk away with a brand message that attracts high-paying clients and makes sense to the people you want to work with.”

Brand Messaging Is Business Strategy

This is bigger than words. Messaging is the foundation of your marketing, positioning, and pricing.

If your message is vague:

  • Your content falls flat
  • Your audience disengages
  • Your sales calls get weird
  • You second-guess everything

But when your message is clear and strategic?

You:

  • Stand out
  • Charge more
  • Sell faster
  • Feel unstoppable

This is not just a copywriting issue. It’s a business strategy issue.

🏁 Conclusion

Most coaches and consultants struggle to attract high-paying clients not because they’re not good at what they do—but because their message is too vague, too complex, or too focused on themselves.

Here’s what to do instead:

  • Speak to your client's pain
  • Show them the promised land
  • Position yourself as their guide
  • Keep your message clear, simple, and sticky

Use the 5-second rule.
Do the message test.
Download the Brand Strategy Checklist.

Then watch your conversions shift.
